North American Cardinals are medium-sized, 24 cm in length, 25-31 cm in wingspan and 42-48 g in weight. The male is bright red, with a black face, extending all the way to the chest. The back and wings are the darkest. The male’s body is covered with dazzling red feathers, especially the brightest on the head and neck.
The feathers on the back and wings are blue and gray in the red, forming a proper transition and contrast with the head. In the face and throat, it is covered with a black “Mask”, which hides the black, round eyes.
